Reason #1: It's Strictly Business.
One of the most popular ways for a serious business venture to help ensure major financial success is to follow this rule--Own all the pieces of the pie so you don't have to share any of the profits. The Adventures of The Galaxy Rangers "pie" is currently cut into 2 pieces. Mandell & Company owns the character rights to G.R. Hearst Entertainment owns the T.V. rights to the original series. The television medium is hands-down the most effective way to reach the most people in the most efficient way. Even the Internet cannot compete with a worldwide medium that has most likely on average at least one TV set in every household on the planet. The original TV series is the most inexpensive way to take advantage of the large TV viewing audience when promoting a new G.R. business venture. A business group could give away G.R. TV broadcast rights or sell the rights at a reduced rate in exchange for free or reduced ad rates for a new G.R. venture during the broadcasting of the original series. This promotional technique is commonly used when movie studios are trying to advertise a movie sequel one week before that sequel is released and it will even work for the dated G.R. TV series material. Hearst Entertainment understands the value of their "pie piece" (and I suspect) would like to buy out Mandell so that Hearst can start their own business venture of G.R. Mandell & Company don't have the financial resources to make, distribute and promote a new G.R. venture, but getting the rights to the TV series would be a big step towards making their dreams of a G.R. venture a reality. Each ownership group tries to keep the popularity of G.R. at minimal (but revivable) levels in the hopes that the other group will sell their piece of the pie cheaply to the other. This places G.R. fans in between two groups involved in a financial staring contest. Each group making just enough money to keep their ownership rights--waiting for the other group to "blink" and sell out. All that G.R. fans can do is enjoy our classic episodes and keep up the faith!

The wave of popularity that Hulu creates for G.R. will crest quickly! It is important for a new G.R. project to "ride" that wave now! Because all 65 episodes were released, this will be a one-time "natural" wave of popularity that will not come again.

What is the actual word regarding the graphic novel? I understand that
obviously it is in limbo too but does anyone have any knowledge of even how
much was completed? Anything that could be released would be a positive.
Even if they just released small sections onto the official website.

Bluegrass, some months ago, I actually inquired E1's Administrator about that very same question. I can't remember which post it was in (maybe it's in 100% officially confirmed info in the "New Website" section of the forum, in the archive), but Admin's official word on the final fate of the graphic novel was that only Robert Mandell could make it happen. We all read the posts that were left by gusnorman regarding his involvement, but his last update was almost 4 years ago now. Admin stated that they have no control or imput into the creation of a graphic novel, since Robert Mandell exclusively controls the rights to complete it. So to sum it up, only Robert Mandell can get however much of it that was finished, finished. And since we've seen, nor heard "any" new news regarding it anywhere, we can only assume if he is even still attempting it, or has abandoned the idea altogether. Which is what it looks like has happened, due to his resistance to give up any rights to the Galaxy Rangers, in exchange to get a deal with a comic company. Hey, you gotta admire him for sticking to his guns, at least! The topic post of gusnorman's old updates for the graphic novel are in the archive, and I think it still has some pics in it, from what little of the project that the fans did get to see, that was actually completed.

From my investigations as I understand it Koch
Entertainment own only the DVD distribution rights to
Galaxy Rangers.
Hearst Entertainment own television distribution rights
Whilst Koch own the website its difficult to add more
content such as video or any thing else due to copyright
issues.
Like I have repeated many times before I dunno how
often people besides the forum members visit the
website or how well the DVD sales are doing.
If there was clearly a significant number of us supporting
this website beside hardcore members we might have a
better chance of geting GR on television or even future
projects.

Is there anyway to post our own fan made creations on the forums? Surely
that would be a start in creating renewed interest for our own community if
nothing else?

I totally agree, Bluegrass.
Artwork. Fanfic. I've got a lot of GR merchandise and I would love to share photos of that here if we had the option.
